The Idea

Alright, so spill it out: What is the idea?

As the name of the webpage already says, the idea is about living not with, let along next to, but among horses. As an equal among equals. More specifically, among 40 adult stallions living in a natural clan or group of horses. And about making that possible not only for the fewer and fewer rich and super rich, who can keep their own horses at their house, but for everyone, at least for a few days in their life as a guest at the Living Among Horses project.

As already mentioned in the About section, the purpose of this is to make the world a better place, by helping and teaching men to become better men, more mature men, and likewise, but to a smaller degree, the same thing for women. This is done by making men (and women) more responsible people by making them more mature. This, I believe, is something which is direly missing today, especially in western societies. How is this achieved? With horses. And a couple of very well-thought of concepts, approaches and ideas.

The idea is to bring humans in the form of guests in contact with a herd or 'clan' of naturally kept and naturally living horses. And this, in a way which nobody has ever experienced before. Like a white European in a tribe of native people. Not dominating or ruling or even substantially interfering, but submerged into their 'clan', their society. As an equal among equals. Or even as a 'pupil' among 'elders'. Submerged into their more natural society and wisdom. In order to experience them and their society as if one were one of them. Or at least as much as that is humanly and horsely possible.

The purpose of this is an emotional learning and an exchange of natural, evolutionarily or even genetically ancient wisdom from a more natural, a non-human species: The horse. And thereby, among other things, perhaps even to receive a kind of 'healing' for the soul, a feeling of being accepted just as one is, independent of any and all of one's humanly possessions, achievements and social rank.

For men it is more than that, because for them, it will be an initiation into manhood, a reception of what it is, and should be, to be a man. Into being an adult, and therefore a mature male human. In other words, a human being that is independent of women. Or can be, or at least has a good experience of it. This applies especially to those men who not only visit the Living Among Horses project as guests, like women, but who work there for longer periods of time as employees, as only men will be working for the project.

For women it is more than that, because for them, it will give them a better understanding of themselves, of their instincts, and therefore of womanhood. Women can visit the Living Among Horses project, or facility as guests - and only as guests -, in order to experience the strongest possible mirror of what some of their instincts want: The natural, unmolested and healthy male. In this case, in the form of the horse. The natural male horse. This mirror, especially in its unmolested and pure, free form and treated with the proper dignity and respect, just like men should be treated, will make women more aware of their own, unconscious inner instincts, and thus, more responsible and more mature and better people.

The Living Among Horses Project is a non-human intelligence, wisdom, emotion and learning project which uses horses as 'elders', as guides, as teachers, as authentic communicators and as true and undistorting mirrors, which they are by their nature, not by training, to reflect the human soul. They are employed to reflect our character, our vulnerabilities, our egoisms and our instincts so that we may become conscious of them and more mature and better people.

For those who have seen James Cameron's 2009 motion picture 'AVATAR', the Living Among Horses Project in more than one way is, I am convinced of this, a real-life 'Avatar' experience. More real than anything else can or could ever be.

One might give the Living Among Horses project the name 'School of Stallions', where stallions teach humans. And one could imagine it a as kind of 'platform', built into a natural forest or natural environment, an institutionalized meeting place or gathering ground, for two different species. Where each can meet the 'other' on equal grounds. A place where two species can easily and comfortably meet, get to know each other and experience each other on equal terms. Native tribes such as the Na'vi and western people such as us. Only that the natives, in this case, will be horses.

That's it? Is that all?

Yes and no. No, that's not all. Over 20 years of studying of relevant topics went into this, years of experience as a horse groom, as an animal rights activist and as a pioneer for species-appropriate keeping of horses. Besides several more generic texts on the species-appropriate keeping of stallions, there is also a detailed project description, ranging from a one-page summary, over a 22-page essentials to the full 77-page paper. But yes, basically, that's it, in a nutshell.

And what exactly is the benefit of this for the human race?

I can only repeat what I already said in the About section:
This idea will make the world a better place. For humans and for animals. It will do this, by seeking to change, and improve people. Most of all men, but also women. This idea will help both men, and women, become more mature and therefore, enable them to be better and more responsible people. That is to the benefit of everyone, including all animals.

The human race? I couldn't care less! What about horses? What's the benefit for horses?

Welcome to the club. You're not the only one who cares about horses. This project has a huge benefit to horses (and therefore animals and animal welfare and animal rights in general), not just to those few horses which are actually kept at the facility of this project, but to all horses. To horses as a species. It directly undermines their status as slaves, which horses have had among human beings ever since existence. It does this by raising awareness about the subconscious disrespect with which we face horses in traditional and normal human keeping and facilities. By showing how to do it differently. Without disrespect. Read about disrespect in: The Real Value for the Horse

I don't like this 'AVATAR' theme or I'm tired of it. Can't you describe your idea without it?

You bet. 'AVATAR' and its underlying topics seems just too darn related and well-fitting, at least to me, to not use it as an allegory for a describing webpage. In reality, the idea presented on this webpage has nothing to do with the movie 'AVATAR' and is not related to it or its creator James Cameron in any way. Because finding people who are willing to help realize this idea is essential for this project, I am collecting all promotion material that is free for distribution in Promotion. I'm sure you'll find material there which doesn't hijack and abuse the 'AVATAR' theme for every nut and bolt.
